After a Six Month Hiatus...

I'M BACK!

I'm officially resurrecting my blog to document my training for my third, and hopefully, final marathon. I say final because, well, as you all know, training for a marathon is a huge commitment. There are so many new things that I want to try and there just isn't enough time to do both [volunteer at the Obama headquarters, volunteer with the Chicago Olympic Committee, dance lessons, etc]. So, after I cross the finish line of the Chicago marathon on October 7th, I will be putting my marathon shoes to bed. Running is my therapy so that will never stop, but after that date I'm done with marathons...or so I say now.

With that said, I hope I haven't lost my two loyal readers over the past 6 months. I had such high hopes of continuing my momentum from the KC marathon and that lasted until around January. After that time I was working too much and before I knew it I fell out of blogging and running land.

This morning was my first run with the team, a 5 miler. I had no expectations because, as I said, I really haven't run consistently since late February. I know, bad. This week has come with some unhappy family news, so I had a lot of motivation to run out the frustrations. The first 2 miles sucked, but the remaining 3 were fairly good. It was a nice, overcast, cool morning to run. I had forgotten how friendly the lakefront path was and how much I missed that. I reconnected with some TNT alumn and Coach Jack and was amazed at how many newcomers there were.

And of course, my favorite part of the run, the last few strides, the Einstein bagel, warm shower and nap that follows.

So, I am back...readers or no readers. I'm ready to really take this training seriously because this needs to be my last marathon. And being my last go at it, I need to finish uninjured and in my time goal.

...and just a quick overview of the past 6 months
-went skiing in New Mexico
-worked a lot
-got a promotion
-cruised to the Bahamas
-celebrated 4 years with Jacob

Welcome back, Taylor. Congrads on the new promotion. I hope after a small hiatus from marathon training (after you finish Chicago in October) that you will come back to it like an old friend.

Nice to see you back - jayhawk will get your readership up with her link to your post.

I've done three marathons myself and think my marathon days are done. But in the meantime enjoy your training and best of luck.

Hi! I'm new here -- was wandering through Jawhawk's links -- as Nicole predicted.

I'll follow along your marathon training -- enjoy it! Especially if it is to be your last.
