After feeling a bit under the weather last week, I was apprehensive for the long run on Saturday. And, rightfully so. The first 3 or 4 miles were tough. My chest was tight from congestion...and I was overall really unenergetic.
But, I got through...more slowly than I wanted, but I got through.
We did the same route as last weekend only 2 miles more for me--which really was 2 laps around cricket hill after running through to the meet up spot.
I felt and looked like I had ridden a horse for hours. Even coach Chris mentioned my awkward waddle. To me it felt like I was putting one foot in front of the other but I guess I looked pretty ridiculous.
Everyone says after you've done the 18 and 20 mile runs you gain confidence that you can really finish the marathon. And, while I know I'm capable of doing so, I'm still nervous at how I will perform race day. After all, I can't remember the last time I've had 2 consistently good runs. Let's just hope the running gods are on my side on October 7th.
I know I haven't been doing as much hill training as I should be...and I'm gonna pay for that. I've got a little more than one month to hunker down and really focus on what I need to do to complete this marathon.
This weekend Jacob and I are getting away to Crystal Mountain Michigan to join his cousins, Aunt and Uncle at their cabin. It's a beautiful area and I'm excited to do a 10-miler anywhere other than the Lakefront path.
