A Rainy Run

I've never run in rain before...intentionally. There was that one time in college where I was dared to run down Jayhawk Blvd. in the rain in my...oh...oops, nevermind. So when I woke up to a rainy and chilly morning, I wasn't in the least bit excited about the upcoming 6-miler. Out of sleepiness and desperation to go right back to bed, I called Barb and in my best whinny-puppy-dog voice asked if we had to run. She replied, "You won't melt, precious." Hmmpff...I know, I grumbled.

So, fastforward to the run. It actually wasn't that bad. I mean...once I was warmed up, the rain was kinda refreshing. Despite weaving in and out of the puddles, I maintained a nice stride. It was kinda fun, like playing in the rain as a kid. I still have no idea what pace--besides ridiculously slow--I'm at. I need to get one of those Garmin thingies...that isn't $250. I hate the numbers, though. It's like hoping on the scale--I don't want to know how bad it is, I just want it to get better. This week is the first of our mid-week trainings that include speed drills, so maybe that'll help speed my slow arse up!

Questions; what is a lactose threshold? Is that like a test to see how much milk you can drink before getting sick, tee-hee?! I saw a guy on Jackass do that, and it wasn't pretty. Also, what are running beans? Are those better than doing gu? Oh, and how do you get a "Days to marathon" counter on your blog? I want one.

So this is getting annoying because my dang mouse keeps trippin on me..so I have to tab everywhere. Forget this, I'm out...I'll post more during the week when I have access to a computer that actually functions!

Sounds like your run in the rain was much better than mine!

You can steal my counter if you want. It's pretty easy to do. Go to my blog and right click any where on the pate and select view source. Scroll way to the bottow to where it say -- begin countdown clock --. Select from there all the way down to where it says -- End Clock -- and copy and paste it into your template where you want it. Then just go in and change the date and time for your race.

If you want to use a different one, it's pretty much the same deal, just fine the code for it and copy and paste.

Presto.....countdown clock.

If you go to jogblog he has the clock as well.
And I love the rain and running in it.
I've never had the beans but they seem too much like candy for me to taste
